About WorriedAboutSTDs.com
We exist to close the gap between anxiety and clarity. When people are worried about their sexual health, they deserve straightforward, accurate, non-judgmental information.
Our mission
From uncertainty to clarity
Most sexual health information online is either too clinical to be readable, buried in stigma and fear, or commercially motivated. We set out to build something different: a site that treats readers as intelligent adults, gives them the information they actually need, and helps them decide what to do next.
WorriedAboutSTDs.com covers the full journey — from the anxious hours after an exposure, through to understanding a diagnosis and managing long-term sexual health. Our interactive tools are designed to personalise generic information to your specific situation.
We are an independent resource. We have no commercial relationships with testing companies or pharmaceutical manufacturers. All NHS testing services we link to are free at the point of use.

How we write and why
Evidence-based
Every article and tool is grounded in current clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed research. We cite our sources and update content when guidance changes.
Non-judgmental
We write for every person, regardless of sexual orientation, relationship structure, or background. There is no place for shame or moralising on this site.
Clinically reviewed
Content is reviewed by practising sexual health clinicians before publication. Medical information is checked for accuracy and clinical relevance.
Accessible
We write in plain English and avoid unnecessary jargon. Where medical terms are necessary, we explain them clearly.
User-centred
Our tools and content are designed around the questions real people ask when they are worried. We take anxiety seriously and aim to give clarity, not more uncertainty.
Private
We do not collect unnecessary personal data. You can use our tools and read our content without creating an account or sharing identifying information.
Our process
How content is created and reviewed
Research
Writers research each topic using current clinical guidelines (BASHH, BHIVA, NHS England) and peer-reviewed literature.
Draft
Content is written in plain English, structured to answer the most common questions people ask about that topic.
Clinical review
A practising clinician reviews the content for medical accuracy, clinical relevance, and appropriate caveats.
Publish
Once approved, the article is published with the reviewer's details, the date of publication, and source references.
Update
We monitor for changes in clinical guidance and update articles when recommendations change. The date is updated on revision.
